Eu imagino um programa de monitoria, que é muito comum nas universidades (e, inclusive, no ensino médio). Alunos que já tivessem cursado a disciplina (pré-requisito para ser monitor) poderiam se candidatar, posteriormente, a uma seleção de monitores, promovida pelo próprio professor responsável pela disciplina. Uma vez selecionados, os melhores colocados passariam por uma capacitação mais aprofundada, na qual, além das instruções do professor responsável, deveria haver a participação da WMBR através dos editores mais experientes da Wikipédia no local, que ajudariam a promover esse curso de capacitação de monitores, fornecendo-lhes informações mais específicas quanta à edição de artigos. Existem programas de monitoria em que esse curso de capacitação ocorre antes da prova de seleção. O aproveitamento do curso, adicionado ao que se aprendeu na disciplina, anteriormente, nesse caso, mostraria o desempenho do aluno e seria o parâmetro de seleção, através de uma prova escrita ou como o coordenador preferir. Em outros, o curso só é fornecido aos aprovados na seleção.

Existem monitores voluntários e bolsistas. Diversos programas concedem a bolsa para o(s) melhor(es) colocado(s), ficando os outros que também atingiram uma nota de corte determinada como monitores voluntários, tendo como recompensa um certificado de participação ao final do semestre. A possibilidade de ganhar a bolsa motiva mais estudantes a participar da seleção. A monitoria é uma boa maneira de revisar e fixar a matéria, além de ser algo que conta para o currículo do estudante.

Sobre o curso de capacitação, penso em algo rápido, num horário possível para os estudantes e para os convidados (wikipedistas). Uma parte seria utilizada pelo próprio professor, na qual ele fornece os conhecimentos específicos adicionais da disciplina que um potencial monitor deve ter. A outra caberá à participação dos wikipedistas, com os conhecimentos técnicos relacionados à edição de artigos na Wikipédia.

Obviamente, esta é uma sugestão para disciplinas que já começaram (como no caso da professora Juliana). Não é possível capacitar monitores que ainda não têm nenhum conhecimento da matéria. No caso de uma disciplina a ser iniciada, o papel do monitor deveria ser mesmo desempenhado por um editore experiente no campus.

Acredito que um programa semelhante a este redireciona a participação dos voluntários no campus, adequando-a, convenientemente, aos compromissos e atividades pessoais que costumam impedir um acompanhamento diário das aulas. Para os alunos da universidade, que já estão diariamente no local, é muito mais fácil participar e isso traz um benefício para o aproveitamento dos outros estudantes que estão cursando a disciplina, pois eles poderão ser acompanhados e instruídos por alguém muito mais próximo e acessível, que compartilha com a realidade deles.

I imagine a monitorship programme which is very common in universities (as well as in high school – “ensino médio”). Students that had already coursed the discipline (precondition for being a monitor) could apply for a selection process promoted by the professor responsible for the discipline. Once they were selected, the best ones would attend a capacitating course deeper than the original classes, in which, beyond the instructions of the responsible professor, WMBR should participate through its experienced Wikipedia’s (or another project) editors in order to aid the monitors in the capacitating course, providing them specific knowledge about editing articles. There are monitorship programmes in which this capacitating course takes place before the selection exam. In this case, both the profiting from the course and the profiting from the discipline, previously, denote the student’s performance and should be the selection’s parameter, through a written exam or the way the professor prefers. In the other hand, sometimes the course is provided only after the selection of the monitors and just for these students.

There are volunteer monitors and other who receives a scholarship for it. Many programmes grant a scholarship for the best placed in the selection exam. The remainder lay as volunteer monitors, and are rewarded with a certificate of participation in the end. The possibility of earning a scholarship motivates the students for participating of the selection. The monitorship is also a good way to review and remind the subject, besides being something which can be attached to the student’s school records.

About the capacitating course: I think in something fast, in the best time for all the students and for the guests (wikimedians). One part would be used by the professor himself, in which he would provide specific and further knowledge of his subject that a potential monitor must have. The other part would be reserved for the wikimedians to teach the technical information related to editing articles in Wikipedia (or another project).

Obviously this is a suggestion for the disciplines that have already started. It’s not possible to capacitate monitors which still don’t have any subject’s knowledge. When a discipline starts, the monitor role would be performed by an experienced editor in the campus and the online supporters.

I believe that this kind of programme redirects the volunteer’s participation in the campus, adjusting it, conveniently, to the appointments and personal activities that use to prevent a closer accompaniment of the classes by the ambassadors. For university’s students, who are already at the place every day, is easier to join and it takes benefits for the other students’ profiting from the classes because they will be accompanied and instructed by someone more reachable and closer, who shares their reality.
