Main Deliverables
Wiki Loves Minas Gerais
Wiki Loves Minas Gerais is inspired by the success of previous Wiki Loves campaigns, aiming to spotlight the diverse cultural, historical, and natural wealth of Minas Gerais on Wikimedia projects. This initiative encompasses a strategic array of activities designed to foster community engagement, expand content about Minas Gerais with a methodology in which content gaps and relevant local knowledge are participatorily identified, and forge collaborative partnerships with local institutions and audiences, especially coming from educational contexts and underrepresented communities. These efforts are dedicated to enriching Wikimedia's knowledge base while encouraging broader participation in documenting Minas Gerais' unique contributions to Brazil's cultural heritage and in empowering its diverse communities. We are particularly interested in local-based activities with accessible editing, thus mostly relying on mobile contributing.
The success of Wiki Loves Minas Gerais depends on cultivating a sustainable open knowledge community within Maranhão and addressing content gaps on Wikimedia platforms.
- Responsibility: Community
- Main strategy alignment: Foster and diversify partnerships for open knowledge in Brazil

Wikimedia Contributor Retention Program
The Wikimedia Contributor Retention Program seeks to strengthen and sustain engagement within Wikimedia projects by supporting new and periodic users, administrators, contributors with advanced rights, and campaign participants. It builds on concrete practices already tested by the community, such as mentorship initiatives, workshops, and campaign follow-up activities, to ensure that contributors stay motivated and connected. The program also recognizes the importance of care and recognition for experienced contributors to avoid burnout and foster leadership renewal.
Success in the Wikimedia Contributor Retention Program depends on our ability to create structured opportunities for continuous engagement, providing concrete pathways for contributors to grow and remain active in the Wikimedia movement.

Wikimedia in University
The Wikimedia in University project aims to bring Wikimedia closer to the academic ecosystem in Brazil by strengthening partnerships with higher education institutions and professors. By equipping professors and researchers with training, resources, and mentorship, the project will empower them to integrate Wikimedia into their academic courses and students' curriculum. It also aims to increase the diversity of educational programs across different regions and disciplines and enhance the visibility of academic knowledge within Wikimedia platforms.
Success in the Wikimedia in University program depends on our ability to establish sustainable academic partnerships that integrate Wikimedia into curricula and research, enabling long-term professor engagement while diversifying the knowledge available on Wikimedia platforms.

A Wikimedia no Brasil: o poder e os desafios do conhecimento livre
A Wikimedia no Brasil: o poder e os desafios do conhecimento livre aims to document and reflect on the evolution of the Wikimedia Movement in Brazil, with an emphasis on programmatic activities and their dialogue with global trends. Initiated in 2024, the process has engaged dozens of Wikimedians and partners and will reach in 2026 a stage of engagement and consolidation with the launching of the actual publication, focused on disseminating debates and issues that surround Wikimedia and free knowledge nationally.
Success in the project depends on its capacity to foster critical reflection, ensure broad access to the content produced, and consolidate Wikimedia in Brazil as a reference point in debates on open knowledge with the publication.

Wikimedia and Democracy
Wikimedia and Democracy seeks to explore ways in which the Wikimedia projects can contribute to the defense of democratic processes against disinformation, to the prevention of manipulation and to strengthen transparency, particularly in electoral processes. The initiative will focus on two different and complimentary processes: the optimization of strategic tools such as MBabel and others, which facilitate the creation and translation of high-quality content, helping expand reliable information during elections, and the production of resources directed to political agents and civil society, creating bridges with transparency networks and advocacy initiatives, especially those that already use open knowledge infrastructures to monitor institutions and inform citizens.
Success in the project depends on Wikimedia being recognized as a trusted source for reliable election information, on the effective reactivation of strategic tools like MBabel, and on the establishment of strong collaborations with transparency and civic networks.

| Monitor and document election-related content across Wikipedia in Portuguese to track the impact on information quality. | Publish a report summarizing monitoring results during national election cycles. |
Associative campaign
The associative campaign seeks to leverage the new governance and strategic cycle of Wikimedia Brasil to engage more people to contribute, collaborate, and donate to the Wikimedia movement. The initiative aims to increase the number of members, expand donations, and consolidate the sustainable new governance structure. This effort will also align with the celebration of Wikipedia's 25th anniversary, using the milestone to raise awareness and foster broader participation.
Success for this project will be achieved when WMB expansion of WMB's membership base, increase fundraising capacity, and strengthen governance practices while connecting these goals with the symbolic momentum of Wikipedia’s 25 years.

AI Integration for Wikimedia
This project is an experiment that aims to prototype and implement a technical solution to integrate AI tools into a small Wikimedia project. The initiative will focus on building an open-source interface that generates AI-assisted outputs which must be manually reviewed and approved by human contributors. The methodology will leverage tools and open-source frameworks to ensure transparency, reproducibility, and alignment with Wikimedia's content standards. The project seeks to enhance efficiency in content creation while keeping human oversight at the center of the editorial process.
Success in the project depends on the creation of a functional, open-source AI interface that reliably supports contributors, produces quality outputs, and maintains manual approval as a safeguard.

Strategy Initiatives
Wkimedia Brasil will host at least three Wikimedia Movement Strategy Implementation initiatives in 2026, namely the Capacity Exchange, the EduWiki Hub and the Content Partnership Hub. These initiatives are embedded in our organizational infrastructure, yet they have specific deliverables and reporting expectations.
The Capacity Exchange (CapX) is a project focusing on Global Approaches to Local Skills Development within and for the Wikimedia Movement. It establishes a sociotechnical platform for peer-to-peer connection and knowledge sharing to sustainably enable community-based capacity-building.
