In order to ensure a plurality of perspectives in the decision-making space that is the Strategy Committee, the selection of people to join the group took into account the diversity criteria, in alignment with WMB's Diversity Plan. The invitation to Committee members also considered the desired range of experience in areas such as free technology development, policy for free knowledge, education on Wikimedia platforms, and governance of the Wikimedia ecosystem.
